EMERGENCY MEETING: Securing Victoria's Climate Targets

Victoria's Emissions Reduction Targets were meant to be announced on Thursday 6 August...

But that was before the COVID-19 pandemic escalated—threatening the lives and livelihoods of Victorians.

On Friday 31 July, the state government announced a delay on the targets decision. This means that the community campaign continues.

When it comes to climate policy, it's essential that the government makes the right decision, not a rushed decision. And as a result, we have more time to make the case for science-based targets that are bold and ambitious.

Join Friends of the Earth's Act on Climate collective for an emergency meeting on Thursday 6 August.

We will present our analysis of the situation, our revised strategy to rebuild momentum, and immediate next steps to influence the state government's final decision.

All are welcome. No prior knowledge required.

NOTE: The meeting will occur on Zoom. Please click here to set up an account and familiarise yourself with the program.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waterways in the area now known as Victoria. We pay respect to their Elders past, present, and emerging, as well as to all First Nations communities who significantly contribute to the life of the area. Sovereignty was never ceded.
